History:
Barangay Camansi was formerly part of one barangay called “Ambabaag” because the people wore g-strings or “baag” in Ilocano. Most of the people then were “Bago” from the Spanish word “Vagabando”, meaning wondering people. They were so-called because they did not settle in any one place for a long time.
In 1904, six years after the coming of the Americans in 1898, Barangay Ambabaag was divided into two because of its growing population. One of the barangay is what now Camansi and the other is Langcuas.
It was on May 14, 1904, that Camnsi was created. Its name was derived from “rimas’ or breadfruit which grew plentiful along the sides of the brrok in the area. Indeed, a brook is the boundary line of Camansi and its neighboring barangays.
