History:
Many people keep on wondering why such a name was given to this place. According to some old folks, during the olden days there were plenty of edible shells in the area called “leddeg”. This shell assumes a spherical shape and of a great importance to the barangay folks because they earned their living by selling this to their neighboring towns by means of calesa and carts since these are the available means of transportation during the time. Because of the roughness of the road, people who commuted by means of calesa were shaken during their travels, thus the name “Madayeg”. As days passed by, the name was changed to “Madayegdeg” by connecting the last syllable of the word “leddeg” to “madayeg”.
