History:

Long ago, Aetas and Igorots lived in this barangay. A rich place with vast agricultural lands. It is surrounded by mountains with thick trees where wild animals lives. In this paradise like place lives Ikong and Masing, a picture of good husband and wife. They were endowed with virtues and industry, strength and courage. Ikong is a very good blacksmith, He finds their living by hunting wild boars, ders and wild birds. Masing is the beauteous wife Ikong who does all the household chores.

Their house is a model one in the barangay. It has only one long post just like the house of a drove. Everytime Ikong went out to hunt, he removes the stairs of their house so that nobody could disturb his wife. The Aetas envied this family very much. They wanted to kill Masing not only she is a model wife but also she possesses some power. She has also ordinary ladle. The arrows of the Aetasnever hit her because the ladle was her shield. The Aetas attaked her whenever Ikong went hunting and whenever she went cooking. Masing then shouted for help and immediately her husband came to her rescue. The Aetas run away and hid. The incident was repeated many times until finally got tired. And so they decided to leav and transfer to another place. Years passed. The people were civilized. Kerim Dilim the first man who was educated gace name “Masicong” to this barangay coming the name Masing and Ikong, in remembrance of the couple that lived once in the area.
