History:
During the ancient time, the area is only a small village with very few people living in it. It was known and called as “BULAYEN” because of the many Bulala trees that cover the area.
When the Spaniards came, there was a Chinese merchant by the name of NAM who came to the Philippines and was able to meet a beautiful lady by the name of TUTAN. Nam and Tutan fell in love with each other, became lovers and later on got married. Nam decided to bring Tutan to China to introduce to her to his parents. They sailed to seas on a boat. Many years passed by, nothing was heard about the travel of Nam and Tutan in China. The parents of Tutan then decided to adopt their combined name “NAMTUTAN” in memory of their daughter and son-in-law.
