Barangay Pagudpud Profile

History:

The people that settled originally in Barangay Pagudpud came from many places. The name of the place then was Calaocan, from the Ilocano word “laoc” meaning mixed, the place being a minuscule melting pot. At that time, the means of transportation was by sea, and people traveled by sailboats or “para’. The main source of income then were fishing, farming, and weaving. The residents were relatively self-sufficient. They did not buy their fish, instead they sold them. They did not buy their rice and vegetables instead they raised and sold them. Some did not buy their clothes instead they wove it. News of this peaceful and progressive place spread far and wide. Later on, a big group of settlers came from Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, came out-numbering the people from other places. When a new name was chosen, they chose Pagudpud, in memory of their former place
