History:
Before the coming of the Spaniards, the barangay was a small place with only 20 to 25 families. Sagayad comes from the Ilocano term “Gayad” which means long and pendulous. Fortunately, the place is blessed with a wide range of forests and mountains that serve as a deterrent to strong gusty winds brought about by typhoons during rainy season. The present land area of the barangay includes what used to be Suoc, Bimmobon, and Salamagui. Hundreds of years passed before these three sitios were merged together and thus, barangay Sagayad was formed.
