History:
The Original name at this barangay was “Sinapangan” because of many “Sapang” trees in the locality. A young couple. Santiago Uno and Concepcio, Lived in the place, with their three lovely children, Santiago Dos, Consuelo and Avelina. They lived happily with the people and grew up to be responsible and doing their best to make their community a happy abd progressive place to live in. One day, the three children were invited to a neighboring barangay where some of their relatives lived. There, Santiago Dos net a young lady with an enchanting beuty whom he loved instantly. After a period of courtship, the young lady fell in love and they decided to get married. Santiago Uno, however, objected and when the young couple insisted on their plans, he went away never returned home.
Santiago Dos and his wife happily and had children of their own, one of whom they named Santiago Tres. Santiago Tres grew up and got married and when he had children children of his own, he named one of them Santiago Quarto. Santiago Uno never returned, but his children and great grandchildren remembered him and so, when a new name for their place was being considered, “Santiago” was chosen in honor of his father.
