History:

Tanquigan was derived from the word tanqui because of its hilly portion which is unirrigated and Annam because of its portion which is basically plain and irrigated. After the Spaniards arrived. The name tanquigan was adopted because the people wanted one name for the whole place, from tanquig and the first letters of Annam.
