The City of San Fernando is both a regional and provincial capital. It serves as the center of trade and commerce, industry, government, and education in the Ilocos Region in Northern Philippines.

Barely nine years as a component city of La Union, is fast becoming the envisioned urban city that balances economic gains with environmental sustainability and the preservation of its historical and cultural heritage. Along with this is the thrust of the local government unit to maintain its agricultural base while developing the area’s commercial, industrial and tourism potentials.

Bounded by the Lingayen Gulf and South China Sea, the city boasts beautiful pristine beaches conducive to various recreational activities and bountiful harvests from the sea.
The strategic location and easy accessibility of the city by land, water and air transport are added attractions to businessmen and tourists.

The presence of an international seaport and airport, the realization of the Poro Point Economic Zone and the remarkable peace and order situation in the locality are the major reasons why San Fernando is seen as the springboard for progress in the Ilocos Region.
With these, opportunities are endless and possibilities are unlimited.
We invite everyone then to come visit and appreciate the beauty of our city and culture. It will be our pride and pleasure to welcome you to experience the hospitality and warmth of our people.

Agay-ayat kadakayo amin,

PABLO C. ORTEGA
City Mayor
