 Fourteen lovely ladies from various barangays of this city competed for the crown of the annual search for Miss City of San Fernando and Miss Barangay on February 10, 2009 as a part of the 10-day fiesta celebration of St. William the Hermit, the city’s patron saint. With the theme: “Rising Above Challenges.”
The candidates are Violeta Valdez, Shiela Magalong, Charmian Origenes, Rose Marie Dumpit, Bernalexi Caballero, Marie Jane Jimenez, Ma. Jennie Vee Japson, Desiree De Guzman, Mary Ann Felix, Sheehan Gail Lacsamana, Ma. Kristine Vergara, Augie Riza Pacalzo, Ruchenee Gonzales, and Cecille Bernadette Apigo.
The pageant search is one of the highlights of the fiesta celebration which was held from February 1 to 10.
This yearly event aims to search beautiful and talented ladies that would be given the opportunity to represent San Fernando City on the upcoming Mutya ng La Union 2009 on the 159th Foundation Anniversary celebration of the province and also compete in national and international beauty contests.
Three of the products of the annual search are Gilrhea Quinzon, Bb. Pilipinas (World) in 2000, Sheryl Ann Ducusin, Miss Philippines Earth (Fire) in 2002 and Anna Katrina Bautista, Ms. Philippines Earth (Eco-Tourism) 2007. 
The winners of the search are Cecille Bernadette Apigo-Miss City of San Fernando 2009, Ruchenee Gonzales-Miss Barangay, who also won two minor awards which are the Best in Evening Gown and the Best in Swimsuit, Bernalexi Caballero-1st Runner-up and also won the Best in Talent award, Sheehan Gail Lacsamana, 2nd Runner-up and Ma. Jennie Vee Japson-3rd Runner-up and won the Best in Designer’s Gown. |
