The quest for Mutya ng La Union highlighted the celebration of the 159th Foundation Anniversary of the Province of La Union on March 2, 2009 held in the City Auditorium of San Fernando.
Reigning Miss City of San Fernando, Cecille Bernadette Apigo won the Mutya ng Kalikasan crown over 17 other beauty queens of the different municipalities of La Union. Apigo brought the glory back to the city after a year as Ms. San Fernando did not make it to the Top 5.
The newly crowned Mutya ng Kalikasan is a 2nd year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at Lorma Colleges in the City of San Fernando.
When asked about her immediate plans as Mutya ng Kalikasan, “I am an advocate for the environment and I believe my title suits me, I want to participate in forums and symposium regarding the conservation of our environment” was the brief answer of the morena-beauty who stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and a daughter of Gil Apigo and Emma Yadao.
Apigo also bagged special awards such as the Ms. PPMC Choice Award, Ms. CSI, Ms. Philex, Ms. SMART, Ms. McDonald’s Smile and Ms. Reyes Haircutters and minor awards such as the Best in Designer’s Gown, Best in Evening Gown and the Best in Swimsuit.
Other winners were Ms. Agoo, Nicole Francine Tuttle as Mutya ng La Union who also won Ms. Reveal, Ms. Arigay, Karen Kelley as Mutya ng Turismo who also won 8 other special awards, Ms. San Gabriel, Julienne Fortunata won 1st Runner-up and Ms. Talent and Ms. Caba, Czarina Mendoza as 2nd Runner-up. |
