Launches livelihood for poor residents
RP’s hairdressers conduct search for city’s fastest

The Filipino Hairdressers, Filhair Cooperative, led by renowned hairdresser and national president Ricky Reyes has conducted a nationwide search to vie for the Guinness Book of Records called “HaiRecord” that included this city as one of the places for regional search.

The said association, coinciding with their 25th year anniversary, has earlier launched in Metro Manila, with its seventeen cities and municipality, a program under the Office of the President, through Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), a livelihood program called the “Bagong Hanapbuhay 2009, Bagong Taon Bagong Pagasa,” which is benefiting 34, 000. One hundred of them are allocated to the city, through the OPG, TESDA and the DSWD. It will be given to the poorest of the poor in the city with 5 livelihood components by TESDA. All beneficiaries, it was learned will be given loans by the DSWD through its SEA-K program.

Representatives from the office of Sec. Augusto “Tito Boboy” Syjuco of TESDA visited the city last March 30 to implement the said project and were met by City Mayor Pablo C. Ortega.

Competitors vied for the most haircuts and hairdressing in 4 hours. A Memorandum of Agreement was also signed between local government units led by Mayor Ortega, TESDA, DSWD and Filhair representatives.
