Mayor Pablo C. Ortega donated blood, leading over 1,000 more volunteers that included barangay officials; city councilors, officials and employees; and police and fire department personnel, national agencies personnel and some city residents in a blood-letting activity that marked his 58th birthday, April 3.

The City Health Office (CHO), which ushered the said event, recorded over 100 blood volunteers as of 11 AM that included Mayor Ortega, P/Supt. Pedro Obaldo, Jr., and Liga ng Barangay vice Pres. Ramon Ortega, Councilors John Orros and Andre Dacanay.
Fifty nine barangay officials in the city that included five more residents each have agreed to donate blood. They are estimated to number up to 826 persons alone.
Other participating agencies sent five volunteers each and two persons from each city government department, which when entirely summed up total up to over 1,000 volunteers, according to the CHO.
“It’s still too early to tell but they are expected to troop to donate before the activity’s cut-off time at 5 PM,” a CHO personnel said.
The Mayor has emphasized on health in his administration, embarking on physical fitness programs such as the 3-kilometer Fun Run, bike race, basketball, badminton and parlor games among city employees, executive and legislative departments during the celebration of the 11th foundation anniversary of the city last month instead of extravagance spending. |
