City Librarian Agnes Baltazar said on April 27 that 300 assorted college reference books consisted of medical, management, history, economics and technology subjects arrived recently as part of the Asia Foundation, Makati’s twice a year book-donation to the city government.
Baltazar said that the new books donated by the Foundation headed by National Director Efren Balajadia, replenished the previously-donated books to the city last July 2002, courtesy of then La Union Governor Victor F. Ortega.
She added the newly-donated reference books, which was coursed through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, under Sally Matoza, would hopefully help local college students on their researches and be put to use on the educational courses they are taking.

On February 27, the City Library has turned-over some 300 previously-donated books to the Mameltac, Bangbangolan, Pao Norte and Sacyud National High Schools and at the Barangay IV Reading Center on April 2. Baltazar said the books, which were high school references, have multiple copies prompting them to give away other copies to the said public schools.
City Mayor Pablo C. Ortega was elated by the book-donation and said that this will encourage students to research and refer to the libraries rather than the Internet and trains them to study hard and read a lot and not depending on electronic researches alone. |
