City Fire Department conducts safety measures

 
     
 

The City Fire Station, under Sr. Insp. Lany Carbonell, conducted fire prevention, safety and suppression activities through fire drills, lectures, trainings and safety inspections aside from responding to fire calls from July to September, this year.

In their Fire Safety Lecture/Seminar, fire drills, fire brigade training and volunteer brigade refresher course, under the Dept. of Interior and Local Government and Bureau of Fire Protection Ugnayan sa Barangay program, the City Fire Station visited Barangays Lingsat, Carlatan, Catbangen and Biday to teach basic knowledge on fire prevention and safety measures; basic fire-fighting technique; rescue evacuation; and first aid procedure through actual drills.

From July to September, they responded to four fire incidents that included Barangays Madayegdeg and Dallangayan Este and even in Barangays Allagigan and Sto.Rosario in San Juan, La Union. The usual causes of fire were listed as electric short circuit through over-heated light bulb and defective liquefied petroleum gas regulator that caused leakage.

 Over the same period, they also inspected 417 establishments in the city where a total of 156 were recommended for correction of violation, 261 were issued with Fire Safety Inspection Certificates. They have also reviewed 65 building plans.  

A total of 8 lectures were conducted, six fire drills, and four were trained in the fire brigade with 160 recorded members.

They have also collected the amount of Php 83, 621. 57 as estimated worth of Fire Code fees.
