The City of San Fernando celebrated its Fiesta from February 1-10, 2010 with the theme: “Working Together: 2010 and Beyond.”
Residents of this city started the observance on January 23 with the opening of the Agri-Trade Fair and mass oath taking of the different Rural-Based Organization infront of the City Hall.
Activities like the acrobatic show scheduled on January 24 at 4:00 pm in the Plaza; the yearly National Bible celebration poster-making and awards night on January 25 at the Plaza; the blessing and inauguration of city projects on January 29; a free anti-rabies vaccination program together with a dog show was held infront of the City Hall on January 31; field demonstration of Districts I and II on February 2 at the Pacoy Ortega and Cultural Sports Center; the Parish Pastoral Night on February 3 and the Night of the Non-Government Organizations on February 4.
Sports activities were also scheduled starting with the Jetski Competition and Exhibition at Barangays Canaoay and San Francisco on January 31; ‘Boxing at the Plaza’ held at 7:00 pm on February 2; a differently-abled sports tournament on February 5 held at the North Central School; mountain bike and BMX race which started and ended infront of the City Hall on February 6; the kiddie chess at the Dacanay Hall on February 6 and 7 and the National Motocross at 8:00 am in Barangay Biday which was also held on February 7.
Different beauty and brains talent searches were conducted starting with the Miss Gay Universe 2010 on February 6 at 7:00 pm; the search for Little Miss San Fernando and Little Miss Barangay 2010 on February 7 and the search for the Campus King and Queen and Star Search Student Body Organization (SBO) participated by the different public and private schools in the city on February 8 at 8:00 pm were held at the City Plaza.
The grand civic and military parade was conducted on February 9 which started at 6:00 am with 135 participants from different government and non-government agencies, schools and universities, business and private sectors and witnessed by thousands of tourists and residents of the city.
This year’s celebration was highlighted on February 10 with a fiesta thanksgiving mass at the St. William Cathedral 5:00 pm, the procession of the image of St. William around the Plaza at 6:00 pm and finally, the search for Miss City of San Fernando and Miss Barangay 2010 at 8:00 pm at the City Plaza.
