In line with the innovations for the auxiliary wet market here in the city, the Market Department of the City Government of San Fernando headed by the new Market Supervisor Dr. Jessie Miranda in coordination with the CENRO Office conducted a mural painting contest at the shells section last December 4, 2007 with the theme: “Maganda at modelong palengke, suportado at love ko’to!”
Participants from the high school and college levels of the different public and private schools in the city joined the said competition.
The winners for the college level were: Paulo Capuyan from Saint Louis College who bested other contestants being the first placer; followed by the 2nd placer Andrei Kiat-ong also from Saint Louis College and 3rd placer Ericson Corpuz from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-MLUC.

From the high school level, winners were: Rafael Mabunga from the La Union National High School as 1st place; Silverio Villanueva from the Dr. Quintin Balcita Sr. National High School as 2nd place and Mr. Aljon Mark L. Biñan as the 3rd placer.
“We conducted this contest to further beautify our wet market, since this was awarded last year as the Best Wet Market, we want to continue to achieve this award for the next years to come,” said Dr. Miranda. “Our next project is to color code the different sections like apple green for the vegetable section, orange for the rice section, aqua blue, salmon peach, red and lilac for the fish, meat, eateries & refreshments and frozen sections respectively,” he added.
The event was graced by City Mayor Pablo C. Ortega together with City Councilor Joseph Bernard D. Valero, Chairman-Committee on Market and Slaughter house, City Councilor Joseph M. de Guzman, Chairman-Committee on Health and City Councilor Andre H. Dacanay, Chairman-Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Legal Affairs. |
