The city government of San Fernando was adjudged as best performer in the implementation of various programs under the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) and Mayor Pablo Ortega was cited for his untiring support.
It is our commitment to help our constituents find jobs so they can have source of income for their needs and their families, Ortega said after receiving the award.
Ortega, along with Melchor Ancheta, human resource officer, received the award from Dir. Henry John Jalbuena of the Department of Labor and Employment in a simple ceremony at the Venus Parkview Hotel in Baguio City on Thursday.
The awarding coincided with the training and year-end performance evaluation of PESO officers from the four provinces of Region 1, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte.
San Fernando vested all other cities in Ilocos region in this first coveted recognition.
The provincial governments of La Union and Pangasinan, both tied in the scorecard, were chosen as best PESO performers in the provincial level while the town of Agoo under Mayor Sandra Eriguel was best in the municipal level.
Vice Governor Martin de Guzman and Agoo Councilor Dominador Rivera, received their award, respectively.
This award was presented because of their outstanding performance in employment promotion thereby contributing to the attainment to the national economic development agenda through the active support of local government units, Jalbuena said expressing his gratitude to the awardees.
