Sixteen lovely ladies from various barangays of this city will be competing for the crown of the annual search for Miss Barangay and Miss City of San Fernando on February 10, 2008 as a part of the 10-day fiesta celebration of St. William the Hermit, the city’s patron saint.
Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, head of the pageant selection committee, named the candidates as Daisy Mabini, Joanalyn Catbagan, Charisse Abaya, Michelle Galanto, Ynnah Vanessa Avecilla, JN Riza Etrata, Brendolf Muñoz, Caresa Fabro, Margie Estrada, Melissa Macagba, Mia Jayne Arzadon, Marie Jane Jimenez, Baby Andallo, Gladys Ann Abelon, Kimberly Greaney and Karina Jane Purugganan.

The pageant search is one of the highlights of the fiesta celebration which will be held from February 1 to 10.
The yearly event aims to search beautiful and talented ladies that would be given the opportunity to compete in national and international beauty contests. Three of the products of the annual search are Gilrhea Quinzon, Bb. Pilipinas (World) in 2000, Sheryl Ann Ducusin, Miss Earth (Fire) in 2002 and Anna Katrina Bautista the reigning Ms. Earth (Eco-Tourism) 2007. Kitchie Benedicto Paulino was the co-chairman and over-all director of the pageant.
City Mayor Pablo C. Ortega, chairperson of the fiesta executive committee, said the theme of this year’s celebration is “Continuity and Innovation towards Globalization.”
Fiesta activities also include search for Little Miss San Fernando and Little Miss Barangay, Miss Gay Universe, SBO Campus King and Queen, Student’s Star Search, sports fest, trade fair, medical and dental missions and grand civic and military parade among others. |
