CGSFLU and dole conduct SPES

 
     
 

The City Government of San Fernando headed by City Mayor Pablo C. Ortega and the Department of Labor and Employment Region I led by Regional Director Henry Jalbuena, have once again implemented the Special Program for Employment of Students for the months of April and May 2008 employing seven students from different schools and universities.

SPES is a two-month program of the City Government of San Fernando spearheaded by Mr. Melchor Ancheta, Human Resource Officer, in coordination with DOLE represented by Engr. Leonardo M. Catapia, OIC-Provincial Officer, for poor but deserving students to earn income during the summer vacation in preparation for the coming school year and to train and develop students in a work set-up.

These college students who availed of the said program were qualified according to two criteria namely: they have a good scholastic record in school and their family economic status is below the poverty line or the family income must not be more than Php 45,000.00 annually.

Students namely Lara D. Nisperos, Mark Edwin T. Rivera, Ma. Vanessa S. Soriano, Leonard C. Nisperos, Donna Marie N. Ducusin, Ailene D. Suyat and Marie Cris D. Lete received a salary of Php 124.80 per day for 30 days. Sixty percent of their salary was subsidized by the City Government of San Fernando which were given on the 15th and 30th of April and May.

The 40% counterpart of DOLE, in a form of check amounting to Php 2,495.00 was given to each student on June 18, 2008 at the Office of the City Mayor, San Fernando City, La Union.
