Everyone knows that Christmas is just around the corner when holiday songs are starting to play on the radio, children are caroling around the streets, families are decorating their homes and before you know it, the whole City of San Fernando is once again filled with Christmas glow of lights and friendly smiles from the locals.
The City Government of San Fernando joyfully welcomed the beginning of the yuletide season with its annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony held in front of the City Hall last December 1, 2017.
Hundreds of families and friends were left with wonder and amazement as they have experienced a new and amusing Christmas presentation this year. The climax of the evening was the viewing of the city’s first ever Musical Light Show.
The City Hall was magnificently covered with various vibrant holiday lights which are perfectly synchronized to the music of Christmas medleys such as “Carol of bells” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” transforming it into a majestic edifice that brings to life the beauty of Christmas. The show was then followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree with an artificial snow falling from the sky.
As a grand finale to close the ceremony, a five-minute breathtaking fireworks display lit up the skyline of San Fernando with colorful bursts of light which drew bright smiles and gasps of admiration from the watching crowd.
The Christmas Lighting Ceremony was led by Mayor Hermenegildo “Dong” Gualberto and Vice Mayor Alfredo Pablo Ortega together with Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III and City Councilors Ernesto Rafon, John Orros, Arnel Almazan, Mario Lacsamana, Ferdinand Verzosa, Ramon Ortega and Jessi Miranda.
The event also featured amazing and heartwarming performances from Wishcovery finalist Kristine Joy Peralta and San Fernando All Stars. A video was also being presented during the event where it told a meaningful story about the “Pasko ng Pamilyang San Fernando”.
Moved by the video, Mayor Dong Gualberto shared an inspiring message to everyone saying, “We all have the opportunity to be a light in each people’s darkness – in their hopelessness. In this Christmas Lighting Ceremony, may we all be reminded that we can be the light in the life of our brothers and sisters who are lost, poor, naked and thirsty. We can only achieve the Pasko ng Pamilyang San Fernando, if all of us will love, not only those who are family, not only those who love us but including those who may have hurt us, those who we might not know and those that are in need of help. We can only be a People’s City if we all love each other and serve one another.”
The Musical Light Show plays every day at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM while the Snow Show runs every Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM. Both shows can be viewed in front of the City Hall.
