In the spirit of cooperation to promote the rights and welfare of migrant workers and their families, Mayor Hermenegildo “Dong” Gualberto together with TESDA Representative Jovy Cahiga, DOLE Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra, OWWA (OIC) Gerry Rimorin and POEA Director (OIC) Virgilio Carreon Jr. signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the Convergence on ensuring Illegal Recruitment Free City of San Fernando last Tuesday (July 10, 2018).
Public information drive on national policies, programs and services for migrant workers, specifically on welfare services, anti-illegal recruitment and anti-trafficking is a major component of the project. Skills trainings and reintegration seminars will also be carried out to further support the initiatives of the pact.

Barangay Officials are also expected to work closely with the City Government along with the partner agencies to combat illegal recruitment activities that mostly start at the Barangay level. They must take the lead in identifying illegal recruiters and human trafficking activities in their respective communities.

This is in line with the commitment of the City Government in ensuring the welfare of the people especially the poor, disadvantaged and marginalized.
