SGLG REGIONAL ASSESSMENT TEAM EVALUATES CITY GOVERNMENT PERFORMANCE FOR 2024 SEAL OF GOOD LOCAL GOVERNANCE

The Regional Assessment Team (RAT) composed of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Ilocos Norte and partner Civil Society Organization (CSO) evaluated the City Government of San Fernando City, La Union for the Regional Validation of the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on June 4, 2024.
During the validation, the Assessment Team under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Provincial Director Atty. Gerald D. Gallardo, together with the OIC Program Manager Jeslen B. Tesoro and National Chaplains of the Philippines (NCP) Chaplain Ryan Jay O. Tamoria, evaluated the City Government on the 10 key areas of governance.
The assessment also involved on-site inspections in the various city facilities, review of documents, and interview of key personnel relevant to the 10 governance areas as prescribed in the Republic Act No. 11292 or SGLG Act.
City officials, department heads, and some government agencies were present to support the evaluation, including Mayor Hermenegildo “Dong” A. Gualberto, City Councilor Hon. Mark Anthony A. Ducusin, City Local Government Operations Officer Ms. Lily Ann O. Colisao, City DILG Administrative Aide IV Mr. Roger Christian S. Macalino, and representatives from the Department of Education, Philippine National Police, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
The SGLG recognizes performing local governments and promotes transparency and efficiency to strengthen local governance reforms and empower local communities for sustainable development.
Through this evaluation, the City Government can identify challenges and improve its strengths to better serve the #PeoplesCity of #SanFernandoTayo.
