75 FARMERS PARTICIPATE IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING

To be able to create a label or brand and produce an income generating product for every agricultural association, 75 farmers from 45 agricultural associations participated in the Farmers Association Entrepreneurship for Men and Women in Agriculture Sector Training that the Office of the City Agriculturist organized in Food Terminal, Barangay Biday, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Science Research Specialist II Mr. Michael John C. Maquiling and Senior Science Research Specialist Ms. Meryl Bernardino from Department of Science and Technology (DOST) served as resource speakers during the training and delivered a lecture on food packaging, food labelling, and product development which could be applied to the existing products of the participating farmers associations and cooperatives.

The resource speakers also suggested to the farmers to visit them in their office and claim their sticker output. Then, they further expressed their willingness to help and assist the farmers in the enhancement of their labelling and develop a more creative brand.

City Councilor Hon. Edwin Yumul, City Administrator Col. Ramon F. Laudencia, MNSA, CSEE, and Vice Chairperson of the City Local People’s Council Executive Committee Engr. Larry Cabatic were also present during the event.

Meanwhile, the Agri-Fishery Market Day has also been conducted simultaneously with the training in order for the farmers to generate income while learning.
