CENRO RECOGNIZES GREEN RIBBON BARANGAY AWARDEES

In celebration of the Zero Waste Month, the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), identified 15 barangays of the city as Green Ribbon Awardees for promoting eco-friendly practices, good housekeeping, and complying with environmental laws on January 26, 2023 at the Children’s Park Gazeebo, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Together with Environmental Monitoring Officer Mr. Prince Jay Santiago of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau and City Councilor Hon. Edwin H. Yumul, CENRO spearheaded by CENR Officer Mr. Valmar Valdez awarded the 15 high performing barangays as follows:

Urban Category:

1st place –  Barangay Cabaroan; 2nd place –  Barangay Sevilla; 3rd place –  Barangay Biday; Coastal Category; 1st place –  Barangay Poro; 2nd place –  Barangay Lingsat; 3rd place –  Barangay Carlatan.

Lowland Category: 1st place –  Barangay Santiago Sur; 2nd place –  Barangay Bato; 3rd place –  Barangay Cadaclan; Upland Category; 1st place –  Barangay Puspus; 2nd place –  Barangay Calabugao; 3rd place –  Barangay Pacpaco.

Moreover, CENRO also gave Special Citation Awards to Barangay Masicong for having the best community garden, Barangay Cabarsican for having the best backyard garden, and Barangay Ilocanos Norte for having the most sustainable garden.
