The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Local Economic and Business Development Office – Tourism and Cultural Affairs Division, participated in the Pre-Arrival Coordination and Mock Tour for the arrival of the French luxury liner Le Soléal of Compagnie du Ponant on May 8, 2026.

The initiative was headed by the Department of Tourism Region 1 in coordination with the Provincial Government of La Union, Poro Point Management Corporation, FAST Travel and Tours, SMART CSF Transport Cooperative, Intercruises, TravelPeople, Wallem Philippines, and other partner stakeholders.

The activity aimed to strengthen coordination among partner agencies and stakeholders in preparation for the expected arrival of Le Soléal of Compagnie du Ponant and ensure a world-class tourism experience for future guests.

Among the highlighted activities prepared for guests are the narrated jeepney “Running Tour” around the city and the “Faith, Flavors, and Finds” carousel tour featuring the City Public Market, Ma-Cho Temple, San Fernando City Plaza, St. William the Hermit Cathedral, and the La Union Pasalubong Center.

Guests are also expected to experience cultural immersion activities such as fish deboning demonstrations and interactions with local vendors including “magtataho” and “sorbeteros”.

The arrival of the ship is expected on September 14, 2027, marking another milestone in positioning the city as a premier cruise tourism gateway in Region 1.

The coordination also involved courtesy calls with Provincial Administrator Dr. Ramon B. Torres, representing the Provincial Governor of La Union Hon. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, and with City Councilor and Chairperson of the SP Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts and Historical Preservation Hon. Kyle Marie Eufrosito Y. Nisce.

Through initiatives such as this, the City Government continues to support tourism development efforts that promote cultural pride, local hospitality, and economic opportunities in the Creative #PeoplesCity of #SanFernandoTayo.
