PAKSEAW TOUR HIGHLIGHTS SAN FERNANDO SEAFOOD, COASTAL TOURISM
The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Local Economic and Business Development Office – Tourism and Cultural Affairs Division (LEBDO-TCAD), participated in the PakSEAw Tour at the San Francisco-Canaoay-San Agustin-Poro beach coast on May 26, 2026.
Conducted as part of the May-Kan Leg 4 activities of the Department of Tourism Region 1 (DOT-R1), the tour showcased the city’s coastal tourism destinations, fishing communities, and seafood industry through various immersive activities and community experiences.
Participants engaged in fishing activities in Barangay San Agustin, snorkeling and swimming in the Kasay Marine Protected Areas, and exploration of a hidden beach in Barangay Poro.
Guests also visited the Barangay San Agustin Fishing Village where they learned about the production of local products such as salt, fish sauce, fish paste, and dried fish.
The activity concluded with a Paksiw Cooking Demonstration and seafood lunch by the shore, highlighting the rich culinary heritage and coastal identity of the city.
The initiative was spearheaded by the DOT-R1 in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union – La Union Tourism, Association of Tourism Industries and Networks in La Union, Association of Active Tour Guides of La Union, Philippine Coast Guard, Ocean Deep Diving Center, AQN Marketing, Aureo La Union, and the Barangay Councils of Barangays San Francisco and San Agustin.
In addition, joining the LEBDO-TCAD to accommodate the participants were the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, General Services Office, and City Agriculture Office.
Through this program, CREATE San Fernando LU continues to promote community-based tourism and sustainable coastal experiences in the Creative #PeoplesCity of #SanFernandoTayo.
