The City Government of San Fernando, through the City Health Office in coordination with the Department of Health and Provincial Health Office, launched the Community-Based Blood Donation drive last May 10, 2020, and May 30, 2020. The pilot barangays were composed of Barangay Bato, Barangay Catbangen, Barangay Cadaclan, and Barangay Mameltac.

The said program aims to achieve a substantial supply of blood that will benefit patients who are in need in these uncertain times and prepare for the re-emerging Dengue cases during rainy seasons.

To date, the City Health Office already collected a total number of 109 units of blood from the three barangays.

The Liga of the Barangay, under the leadership of Hon. Geraldine Ortega, Liga President, also supported and adopted the program as one of their noble programs. All the Barangay Captains were encouraged to conduct blood donor recruitment to help expand the program.

Moreover, the CHO targets to finish atleast eight more barangays across the People’s City.
