City devt council approves plan for purchase of covid-19 vaccines in the city.

The City Development Council (CDC) members gathered yesterday, January 15, 2021, at the Barangay Langcuas covered court for the approval of 2 resolutions: Resolution 1 of 2021 Resolution Adopting the initial 21 Million Allocation for procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine; and Resolution 2 of 2021 Resolution Granting Authority to the Executive Committee to Adopt Additional Appropriation for the Procurement of Covid-19 Vaccines, in relation to the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s resolution to allocate up to 63 million for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines.

In the meeting, Mayor Dong discussed the City’s plan to procure Covid-19 vaccines and cited that there are already a lot of LGUs talking to the national government and pharmaceutical companies in procuring the vaccines. With this, he emphasized the urgency in procuring the vaccines early to assure availability for the people of San Fernando.

Mayor Dong also presented an overview of each vaccine brand. Each brand is also currently being reviewed for comparison, safety, efficacy, price, and storage. He also assured everyone that the Local Finance Committee, City Health Office (CHO) and City Inter-Agency Task Force (CIATF) is working hard to procure the safest, and most effective vaccine for the people of San Fernando. Aside from the City’s initiative, the provincial and national government will also be helping in the procurement of Covid-19 vaccines for the people.

The CHO is now finalizing the list of beneficiaries, making sure that the ones who will get the vaccines first are our top priority beneficiaries.

With no objection and abstention from the quorum, the body voted unanimously for the approval of the resolutions that support the procurement of the vaccine. After this, the resolution will be endorsed to the City Council for appropriate legislative action.

Manong Dong extends his gratitude to his co-public servants in the City Government for supporting the initiatives against the Covid-19 pandemic and all other programs that are especially for the people.

The City Government remains hard at work to provide the people of San Fernando with Covid-19 vaccines that will aid in our response interventions against the pandemic. However, minimum health standards shall still be strictly followed by all. Let us continue stepping up together against Covid-19, and together we can achieve a sense of normalcy in no time.
