The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), partners with the SM City La Union for the 2-day Exclusive SM Supermalls Job Fair held at the Union Christian College, Gymnasium on August 27-28, 2025.

This job fair drew a total of 705 registrants, consisting of 273 female and 432 males. Out of these, 191 job seekers were hired on the spot, seizing opportunities from 920 vacancies offered ahead of the official opening of SM City La Union.

During the job fair, Provincial Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega and City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto expressed their messages of support through their respective representatives namely Mr. Denver Padua, Executive Assistant II, and Ms. Valerie Ann S. Valdez, Executive Assistant II.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was also conducted with Executive Assistants of the Provincial Governor and the City Mayor; Ms. Bernadette May Mamitag, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer III; Ms. Charito C. Dator, PESO La Union Manager; Mr. Roderic D. Gacayan, City PESO Manager; Mr. Drake J Lim, SM City La Union Mall Manager; and Ms. Hazel Ann M. Bautista, SM Store Assistant Branch Manager.

To further support the applicants, a one-stop station was made available to help secure documentary requirements from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), and PAG-IBIG, especially for those who were hired on the spot.
