The City Government of San Fernando, La Union (CGSFLU), through the tourism unit of Local Economic and Business Development Office (LEBDO), together with the Department of Tourism Region 1 (DOT R1), guided Ponant Cruise and Intercruises during their ocular inspection in the San Fernando International Sea Port, San Fernando Ferry Terminal and various tourism destinations on August 21, 2025.

Principal Sylviane Beatrice Bernard de Tracy led the Ponant Cruise’s inspection team, which was also with Travel People, a shore excursion agent, and Wallem Philippines, a port agent. Meanwhile, Ms. Evangeline M. Dadat, DOT R1 OIC Regional Director; Ms. Rizalyn D. Medrano, Local Economic and Business Development Office (LEBDO) – Department Head; and Mr. Mark M. Aquino, Tourism Operations Officer I of LEBDO – Tourism and Cultural Affairs Division welcomed the team upon their arrival at the Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC).

While at the PPMC, the guests were shown around the city’s international seaport and ferry terminal to check its available facilities, and experienced the tourism and hospitality services of Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos.

Further visits brought the group to the historical, cultural, and religious landmarks of the Pindangan Ruins, St. William the Hermit Cathedral, and Ma-Cho Temple with City Councilors Hon. Mark Anthony Ducusin and Hon. Kyle Marie Eufrosito Y. Nisce.

In addition, they also enjoyed an empanada-making activity and tried the local products at the La Union Pasalubong Center before proceeding to lunch at Halo-Halo de Iloko, graciously hosted by the Provincial Government of La Union.

Moreover, the ocular visit also reached the municipalities of Bauang, San Juan, Bacnotan, and Bangar, which are also included in the company’s planned luxury shore excursion program.

This visit is monumental for the city, as it aims to present foreign guests with an impressive Oriental cruise shore excursion experience and boost world-class tourism opportunities.
