City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) facilitated a tree planting activity for the City Department Heads of the City Government of San Fernando, La Union together with City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto in celebration of the Arbor Day for Environment Month at Botanical Garden on June 23, 2023.

Coinciding with the tree planting activity, CENRO also conducted the blessing of the improved Botanical Garden having its new aviary cages and a new backhoe.

Moreover, CENRO also had a tree planting activity with Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Regional Training Center, PCG Station, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Statistics Authority, and Christ the King College on June 25, the actual day of National Arbor Day.

Arbor Day is a nationwide celebration wherein its purpose is to encourage people to plant trees. It is also an annual event for local government units institutionalized through Proclamation No. 396 which states, “active participation of all government agencies, including government-owned and controlled corporations, private sector, schools, civil society groups, and the citizenry in tree planting activity.”
