CITY GOVERNMENT CONDUCTS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY SEMINAR ON ROOT CROP PRODUCTION

The City Government through the Office of the City Agriculture conducted a Business Opportunity Seminar on Root Crop Production as part of the #PeoplesCity25 celebration on March 9, 2023 at Marcos Building, City of San Fernando, La Union.
This seminar aims to enhance the entrepreneurship skills and knowledge of the 45 participants from farmer and fisherfolk associations and cooperatives regarding root crop production, its economic contribution, and value adding to their excess products.
Moreover, this was also conducted to provide opportunity for our farmers to generate additional income through root crop production and processing, to open an avenue for direct marketing of their products to consumers, and to match our farmers associations and cooperatives to institutional buyers.
City Agriculturist Dr. Mary Jane B. Alcedo welcomed the guests and the participants of the seminar and delivered her opening remarks. To formally start the seminar, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus Instructor Ms. Judy Ann Padilla imparted lectures on root crops production. Meanwhile, Agriculturist II from Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I Ms. Felomina Bugaoan demonstrated root crop processing to the participants.
Kakabsat, the City Government will always support the agricultural sector for their further development here in #SanFernandoTayo.
