CITY GOVERNMENT UNDERGO SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON DATA PRIVACY ACT COMPLIANCE

City Government of San Fernando, La Union underwent a two-day seminar-workshop on Data Privacy Act (DPA) Compliance with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) in Ynad’s Place Hotel and Resort, Namtutan, City of San Fernando, La Union on November 19-20, 2024.

 

On the first day of the activity, the City Government had an orientation on Republic Act 10173, or Data Privacy Act of 2012 with Mr. Cleo R. Martinez, head of the Compliance Support and Advocacy Unit of the NPC. This was followed by a discussion on conducting a Privacy Impact Assessment with Atty. Mikhail P. Soriano, unit head of NPC – Registration Compliance and Monitoring Unit.

 

Meanwhile, Ms. Elizabeth C. Remponi, Information Systems Analyst I of NPC, facilitated the discussion on Security Incident Management and Risk Reporting on the second day. Mr. Martinez also shared thereafter the guidelines for writing a Privacy Notice.

 

A workshop on Privacy Impact Assessment and crafting a Privacy Notice was also conducted on the second day. The outputs were presented to the resource speakers for critiquing to ensure compliance with the requirements of the DPA.

 

The NPC is a national government agency that is mandated to administer and implement the DPA of 2012 and to monitor and ensure compliance of the country with international standards set for data protection.
