The City Government of San Fernando, La Union marked the 125th celebration of Philippine Civil Service Month during the flag-raising ceremony held in front of the City Hall on September 1, 2025.

City Administrator, Atty. Gilbert L. Caloza gave a message to his fellow public servants, encouraging them to live by the values of hymns and pledges, as well as uphold the highest quality of service to the people.

Afterward, a series of trivia questions was asked among employees in relation to the celebration of civil service.

Following the trivia questions, PCpl Mark E Hufana, Pat Joker A Molina, and Pat Evan Jun N Tuazon of the Philippine National Police – City of San Fernando, La Union (PNP-CSFLU) received their certificates of commendation for apprehending theft suspects caught in the act of stealing mag wheels from a parked vehicle in one of the barangays in the city.

Moreover, the following personnel from the Office for Public Safety, who apprehended theft suspects, were recognized as Pagtuladan Awardees:

• Apolinario Munar – Security Guard II

• Rogelio Flores – Security Guard II

• Ronald Papa – Laborer

• Lloyd Gurtiza – Laborer

• Martin Posadas – Laborer

Lastly, the city government and its Public Employment Services Office (PESO) were also recognized for being recently awarded as the provincial winner in the component city category during the Search for Best PESO 2024 by the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office I.

The awardees were joined and congratulated by PLTCOL ROGELIO B MIEDES, OIC of PNP – CSFLU, and the city department heads.

To conclude the kick-off activity, public servants actively joined in the community dance.
