CITY GOVERNMENT TRAINS STUDENTS IN AGRI-ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT, INNOVATIVE FARMING SYSTEM

The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Office of the City Agriculturist (AGR), trained high school students of 5 public schools on agri-enterprise development and innovative farming systems held in their respective public schools and Food Terminal, Barangay Biday on August 12, 13, 22 and September 3, 2025.

 

Dr. Imma Concepcion G. Estabillo, Associate Professor V at DMMMSU-MLUC, demonstrated the necessary procedures from sanitation, preparing the raw ingredients, proper cooking, and storing their finished products. Simultaneously, students learned while following the steps and were able to produce kamote chips, banana chips, spanish style bangus sardines, and peanut polvoron.

 

Moreover, Mr. Ferdinand M. Navarro, Assistant Professor II at DMMMSU-SLUC, discussed and shared his knowledge on innovative farming systems such as drip irrigation system and hydroponics farming system.

 

Aside from food production and informative sessions, Ms. Mary Dulce V. Camat, City 4-H Club Coordinator, and Ms. Rhuezan A. Ysit, Provincial 4-H Club Coordinator, introduced the 4-H Club of the Philippines among the participating students and encouraged them to join the organization.

 

Among the participants were high school students from San Fernando South Central Integrated School, Pao National High School, Bangbangolan National High School, LUNHS-Sacyud Annex, and Nagyubuyuban Integrated School.
