In line with celebration of the International Youth Day, the City Government, through the active leadership of City Sangguninang Kabataan (SK) Federation, launches three (3) SK Teen Centers in Barangays Catbangen, Ilocanos Sur and Poro yesterday, August 12, 2020.
The inaugurated facilities serve as one-stop-shops where the city’s youth can easily access wide range of information and services through audio visual space, chat hubs, e-library, mini libraries, and youth desk. These centers seek to address several issues concerning the millennials and Generation Zs of the City especially in ensuring their health and well-being.
The event was also attended by City Vice Mayor Chary Nisce, several barangay officials, representatives from the City Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Commission on Population Region 1 who also distributed information-education-communication (IEC) materials on responsible parenthood and family planning, with HIV and teenage pregnancy prevention.
Anchored in programs for Social Development and Education, City Mayor Alf Ortega fully supports the month-long celebration of the Youth Month spearheaded by the City SK Federation including yesterday’s Teen Center launching. Three (3) more SK Teen Centers are set to be launched in Barangays Cabaraoan, Dallangayan Este and Tanqui on August 19, 2020.
The City SK Federation is hopeful that this event brings them closer to achieving their vision for the City of San Fernando to be the “Safest Space for the Youth in Ilocandia by the Year 2022”.
