The City Government of San Fernando, La Union (CGSFLU) joined in the blessing and ribbon-cutting pre-opening program of the SM City La Union in Biday, City of San Fernando, La Union (CSFLU) on October 16, 2025.

The pre-opening program commenced with a holy mass with Most Rev. Daniel O. Presto, D.D., bishop of the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union. Then, the ribbon-cutting of the SM City La Union followed thereafter with the following:

• Mr. Steven Tan, SM Supermalls President;

• Mr. Hans T. Sy, Jr., SM Engineering Design and Development Corporation President;

• Mr. Jeffrey Lim; SM Prime Holdings President;

• Mr. Herbert Sy, SM Prime Holdings Inc. Director;

• Hon. Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V, La Union First District Representative;

• Hon. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, La Union Province Governor;

• Hon. Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, CSFLU Mayor;

• Hon. Pablo C. Ortega, CSFLU Vice Mayor; and

• Most Rev. Daniel O. Presto, D.D., Diocese of San Fernando de La Union Bishop.

The said mall was then officially opened to the public after its grand opening on October 17, 2025.
