The City of San Fernando, led by City Mayor Alf Ortega, takes a significant step onwards achieving its vision to become a SMART CITY BY 2025 after mobilizing the Smart City Council through its orientation meeting last October 30, 2020 at the People’s Hall.
The Smart City Council serves as an advisory council for the City Government and stands as the external champions of the Smart City Vision. They shall provide assistance in overseeing the execution of the strategy and monitor the City Government’s progress.
The council is headed by Chairperson Mary Jane C. Ortega, together with Vice Chairperson Edgee Zarsadias, who is also the City ICT Council Chairperson. They are joined by the members of the council composed of distinguished individuals and leaders of different socio-economic sectors of the City such as Agriculture, Academe, PWD, Business, Tourism, ICT, Youth, among others.
The event was graced by Mayor Alf together with Vice Mayor Chary Nisce. City Administrator Atty. Aileen Lubiano, along with key City Department Heads were also present as they presented the status of the City in terms of CoViD-19 Response and Recovery, Economy, Social Protection and Environment. DepEd City Schools Division Superintendent Rowena Banzon, also a member of the council, presented the City’s Status on Education.
In his speech, Mayor Alf extended his heartfelt appreciation to the members and officers of the Smart City Council for showing their commitment to helping the City achieve the Smart City Vision.
Moving forward, the council is expected to actively take part in the City’s strategic programs, projects, and activities as well as innovate and implement their own initiatives.
