The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Office of the City Mayor (OCM) and the City Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, in partnership with the Lupon ng mga Indibidwal na Nangangalaga ng Kalikasan (LINK) launched My Study Buddy Program at the Liga ng Mga Barangay Hall, on September 26, 2020. My Study Buddy Program aims to help Basic Education Learners in these challenging times by providing free tutorial services, E-learning assistance, as well as lending of gadgets and free internet connection. City Mayor Alf Ortega gave an inspirational message for the thirty (30) Study Buddy volunteers who attended the launching program that was facilitated by Christopher Maynes of the OCM-Special Projects. The volunteers were given an orientation on health guidelines that must be followed during learning sessions. The child protection policy was also discussed by Mr. Bernardo Rombawa from the Department of Education (DepEd). The volunteers have been given Volunteer Kits which contain hygiene kits, face masks, logbooks, Study Buddy sticker, ballpen, folder, and shirt. Apart from this, around 100 Learning Kits, which contain paper, crayons, plantable pencils, are set to be provided to the learners who will participate in the program. Education is every child’s right. Thus, the City Government of San Fernando, La Union shall deliver all necessary support so that our children’s education will continue despite the pandemic.
