
LOOK: City Mayor Alf Ortega presented the best practices of the City of San Fernando in uplifting the education sector during the Galing Pook A+I session on “Making Basic Education Work in Pandemic Times” yesterday, September 30, 2020, attended by various city mayors and Department of Education (DepEd) heads across the country.
As an invited resource speaker, Mayor Alf highlighted the City Government’s enabling initiatives to better prepare the education stakeholders with the limitation of CoViD-19 pandemic. Some of the innovative programs he emphasized include provision of 1,000 units of tablets, expansion of the City’s legislated scholarship program, establishment of barangay-based Sangguiniang Kabataan Teen Centers as youth learning spaces, and the Children Can S.M.I.L.E. Project which focuses on day care students and teachers.
A+I Program, which stands for Adapt and Innovate, intends to equip local government units across the country to formulate mitigating plans of action and creative measures against the challenges of the on-going health emergency.
