The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), conducted the Tulong Alalay for Solo Parents (TULAY) program benefiting 24 indigent solo parents last October 28, 2020 at the City Library.

Ms. Nellie M. Galvan, Dean of the School of Business Sciences of Union Christian College, gave a Simple Bookkeeping and Accounting crash course. The training is designed for people who run small businesses as valuable tool especially on financial management. The participants’ business lines include online selling, sari-sari stores and food selling.

City Mayor Alf Ortega graced the program and gave his appreciation to the participants. “Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for helping not only your family but also our community.”, he added. Mayor Alf hopes that the participants can learn from the training as he would like to visit them for consultation after the course.

Aside from attending the crash course, all 24 participants also signed and received the Contract of Loan for their business start-ups.

The City Government believes that enabling these hardworking solo parents with know-hows and start-up investments is beneficial for their personal growth and of their businesses as well. These initiatives empower the residents in the City’s thrust to improve the quality of living in #SanFernandoAyayatenKa.
