CORN FARMERS GRADUATE FROM FARMER FIELD SCHOOL ON INNOVATIVE CORN PRODUCTION CUM POULTRY INTEGRATION DEMONSTRATION

Corn farmers from Tanquigan, City of San Fernando, La Union graduated from the 4-month season long Farmers Field School on Innovative Corn Production cum Poultry Integration Demonstration Project on March 28, 2023 in Barangay Tanquigan, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Through the Office of the City Agriculturist (AGR), 25 corn farmers successfully completed the training. Four varieties of corn were planted and studied namely Dekalb 6919s and Pioneer for yellow corn varieties, and Macapuno and Honey white for white corn varieties. Free-range chicken production was integrated in their corn production to maximize the economic benefit of corn.
Ms. Josefina N. Sacnit, Ms. Arlyn D. Valdez, and Mr. Fridlee O. Rodriguez from the AGR facilitated and acted as lecturers during the season-long activity.
City Agriculturist Dr. Mary Jane B. Alcedo was also present during the graduation of farmers, together with Ms. Anne Lovelle G. Zabala, Agriculturist II of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 1 and from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Mr. Marcelo Otanes, Provincial Corn Coordinator.
In addition, Mr. Jaydee Miguel from Bayer Company and Ms. Marissa Calanza from Victory Global were also present during the event.
