The City Government of San Fernando La Union through the City Agriculture Office formally opened the Agriculture Trade Fair as part of the 23rd Cityhood Foundation Anniversary of the City The said activity was launched last March 16,2021 where agri-trade fair booths were set up at the twelve (12) districts of the City of San Fernando, La Union.

According to Ms. Mary Jane Alcedo, City Agriculturist, the said activity promotes the agri-fishery products and Income Generating Projects of each barangay. Ms. Alcedo also said that the agri-trade fair does not only promote the agricultural products but also hopes to strengthen the unity and camaraderie among the barangays as well.

Moreover, the City Agriculture Office also facilitated the ‘Pinaka’ which showcases the longest, heaviest, biggest vegetables, fishes and fruits of each participating barangays which were featured at the Lion’s Park of the City on the afternoon of March 16,2021. District 2 was adjudged winner with their entry for the biggest and heaviest fish Tuna or Yellow Fin that weighed 57.2-kilos, surpassing the entries of other districts with only 52-kilos and below of their fish entries.

The Agri-Trade Fair booths were installed at Barangays Bato, Lingsat, Ilocanos Norte, Madayegdeg, Poro, and Barangay I for Districts 1 to 6, while for Districts 7 to 12 were in Bacsil, Apaleng, Pias, Sagayad, Santiago Sur, and Pagudpud.

The City Agriculture Office ensures that health and safety protocols are being observed in the conduct of the said trade fair.

The City encourages everyone to visit the Agri-Trade Fair and provide support on the income generating projects of the different barangays by buying their products as they also take part in celebrating the bounty blessings of the entire City of San Fernando amid the pandemic. #SanFernandoAyayatenka
