33RD HAWAII-PHILIPPINES TRADE MISSION MAKES A STOP IN SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION
The City Government of San Fernando, La Union hosted the 33rd Hawaii–Philippines Trade Mission earlier this March, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of La Union, Inc. (CCILU).
The Mission’s centerpiece event, the 3rd Hawaii–Philippine Business Symposium – La Union Leg, was held at Aureo La Union. Hosted by CCILU, the symposium gathered business leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss key sectors such as tourism, cultural preservation, and investment. In the event, City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto delivered a message of support, while trade mission co-chair Ms. Rosemarie Mendoza acknowledged the delegation’s commitment to collaboration.
Panel discussions highlighted tourism’s role in regional growth and the value of preserving culture as a driver of trade and investment. A notable highlight was the Hawaii–Philippines Biz Connect Forum, which introduced a Shark Tank–style pitching session featuring micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Region 1.
The day’s activities also included an INVESTour led by the City Government, showcasing key investible areas in the city, followed by a Balikbayan Dinner hosted at City Hall. A mini trade fair was also organized which generated ₱238,450 in cash sales and additional booked orders.
In addition, a significant milestone during the symposium was the signing of a sisterhood agreement between CCILU and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Hawaii.
Furthermore, the delegates also joined the opening of the Agri-Tourism and Community Fair at the San Fernando City Plaza, led by Trade Mission Chair Atty. Rhoda Yabes Alvarez.
With continued collaboration among government agencies, private sector partners, and international stakeholders, the Hawaii–Philippines Trade Mission is expected to further advance international ties and opening new opportunities for local enterprises and investors here in our #PeoplesCity of #SanFernandoTayo.
