As the People’s City raises the Philippine Flag today, June 1, 2020, we honor the solidarity and bravery our community has shown to this day. Now that we are placed under Modified General Community Quarantine or #MGCQ, the City Government urges the public to remain vigilant and stay safe.
City Vice Mayor Chary Nisce, in her speech, reminded the public to follow specific protocols and guidelines to protect ourselves amidst the threat of the COVID-19 global pandemic. She invited the community to change our ways and become better persons as we brave the new normal; “for every action that we do, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
SALUTE TO OUR FALLEN HEROES
Meanwhile, the City Government of San Fernando also pays homage to our fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives not only for the People’s City during this crisis. The Sangguniang Panglungsod passed two resolutions honoring and commending the heroism and bravery of Mr. Lord Montri Oineza – Incident Commander, City Government Incident Management Team, and Mr. Garry Calub – ambulance nurse and frontliner at the Emergency Medical Services of Ministry of Health in Kuwait. Both bravely faced the frontlines in the service of the people. The City presented plaques of the resolution and recognition to their respective families of our modern heroes.
City Mayor Alf Ortega recognized the heroism of Mr. Leopoldo Cortez of the City Public Market and Mr. Federico Samuel Dichoso of the City Engineering and Architectural Services. They also served as the forefronts in protecting the residents from the dreaded virus. Our Local Chief Executive also delivered his speech with a sense of encouragement and inspiration. “We cannot isolate ourselves from each other. We are connected.” He emphasized that everything that we do is our love for the City of San Fernando. “Magkakaiba man tayo, dapat magkakaisa pa rin tayo.”
RECOGNIZING PUBLIC SERVANTS
The City Government also awarded Retiring City Employees, Rodrigo Duculan, Arnulfo Ordoño, Reynaldo P. Apilado, Cesar Delos Reyes, and Alfredo Martinez. They were also given certificates of appreciation for their outstanding performance in support of the Government’s efforts to carry out its mandates and make a difference in the delivery of public service.
CENRO ON CELEBRATING WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
In support of World Environment Day, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office highlighted its projects and programs. Some of these projects were distributing 3,000 fruit tree seedlings to city frontliners and city employees, installing solar panel projects. This project will be utilized for the free charging of e-bike and cellphones for the public. The City Government also led the blessing of three newly acquired garbage dump trucks and three water tankers. City Mayor Alf and Vice Mayor Chary also led the planting of ornamental plant rosal at the lion’s park ground.
The City Government of San Fernando always puts the people at the top of our priority. As we face the unexpected impact of COVID-19 in every aspect of our lives, let us not put our guard down. Let us continue to cooperate and instill the value of discipline. Rest assured, your City Government will work tirelessly to emanate #SanFernandoAyAyatenKa.
