The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 1 awarded Php 100,000 cash to 4 centenarians in San Fernando last March 9, 2021.

DSWD Representative Mary Grace Almodovar personally handed over the cash gift, along with certificates signed by His Excellency President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. These certificates serve as recognition and proof of being a centenarian of the Philippines.

Ms. Almodovar was accompanied by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Ms. Sally Matoza and staff.  The 4 centenarians earlier received a cash gift of the same amount from the City Government of San Fernando.

The cash gift for centenarians is mandated by the Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016, a law honoring and granting additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians.

Congratulations to our San Fernando Centenarians! The City Government and Acting City Mayor Alf Ortega will continue to cherish our elderly and work towards providing better social services to our constituents so that more people can live long, fulfilling, and happy lives.
