In celebration of the 27th Cityhood Founding Anniversary of the City of San Fernando, La Union, the City Government conducted a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony in front of the City Hall earlier this morning, March 20, 2025.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, Vice Mayor Hon. Alfredo Pablo R. Ortega shared in his welcoming remarks the significance of the celebration. He also expressed his gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the community toward the city’s progress.

Moreover, a wreath-laying ceremony was conducted where city officials paid tribute to the monuments of Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Speaker Pro Tempore Francisco I. Ortega.

Further, City Mayor Hon. Hermenegildo A. Gualberto delivered his anniversary message, highlighting the essence of unity and the importance of uplifting the community and an inclusive society.

“The spirit of Panagkaykaysa does not count what is ours alone but asks what we can give to help others rise with us. For what is a progressive city if some are left behind? What is progress if it is not shared by all? ” he stated.

Intermission numbers were showcased by the Diana of Bands, which includes the Drum and Lyre Corps of San Fernando South Central Integrated School, Catbangen Central School, Lingsat Integrated School, and Sevilla Elementary School.

Prior to the ceremony, the Diana of Bands marched along the streets of San Fernando as they welcome the city’s festivities today.

Also in attendance during the event were City Councilors Hon. Kyle Marie Eufrosito Y. Nisce, Hon. Pablo C. Ortega, Hon. Jonathan Justo A. Orros, Hon. Edwin H. Yumul, Hon. Rodolfo M. Abat, Hon. Arnel A. Almazan, Hon. Aldrine R. Jucar, Hon. John H. Orros, Hon. Mark Anthony A. Ducusin, and Hon. Quintin L. Balcita, Jr., and Ex-officio Member Hon. Geraldine R. Ortega and SK Federation President Hon. Kirk Andrew M. Agulan.
