MISS GAY QUEENS CELEBRATE LOVE, EQUALITY, AND ACCEPTANCE

On its Silver Cityhood Anniversary, the City Government of San Fernando hosted the annual colorful celebration of the iconic Miss Gay City of San Fernando at the City Plaza on March 10, 2023.
Twenty-one lovely candidates fought neck-to-neck with glitz and glamour for the most coveted crown of Miss Gay City of San Fernando 2023 which Joby Balanza eventually took home with a fiery strut, resplendent smile, and a sharp wit.
Among the winners are: Ericka Valdez who was crowned as the Miss Gay Turismo 2023 and Mundang Ulalan for this year’s Miss Gay Kalikasan 2023. In addition, Ej Gayrama won as First Runner-Up and Khate Lee Ducusin earned the spot as Second Runner-Up.
The event was opened by the Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson Precious Basila with an inspirational message, followed by the heartwarming welcoming remarks of the City Mayor Hon. Hermenegildo “Dong” Gualberto who emphasized the value of inclusiveness in our city, citing “Awan ti mabatbati, sabay-sabay, pantay-pantay, lahat aangat, San Fernando para sa lahat.”
The selection committee was composed of Ms. Anna Katherine Bautista – Tourismo Pilipina 2008 3rd Runner Up as the Chairman, Model and Endorser Mike Maralit, JCI Area 1 Vice President Atty. Lian Rimando, Model and Endorser Mark Hora, and Celebrity Make-up Artist Host Nikki Raven.
The event was also graced by the presence of the Celebrity Special Guest Artist Mr. Ron Angeles who serenaded the queens with his angelic voice, captivating not only the candidates but also the hearts of the audience. Drag queen performer Empy Radora was also present to entertain the audience in her jaw dropping lip sync number to the classic disco hit, It’s Raining Men by The Weather Girls.
A historic night was made yet again at the heart of the City Plaza thanks to the overflowing love and support to our candidates and to our new set of queens as we celebrate #PeoplesCity25. Indeedn, #SanFernandoTayo can be a home for you regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, and expression.
