CITY GOVERNMENT UNDERGOES PRIVACY IMPACT ASSESSMENT TRAINING

The newly established Farmers and Fisherfolks Multi-Purpose Techno-Learning Center was officially opened during an inaugural ceremony led by the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Office of the City Agriculturist (AGR), held at the Food Terminal, Biday, on July 15, 2025.

City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto graced the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony along with City Agriculturist Dr. Mary Jane B. Alcedo, City Veterinarian Dr. Flosie P. Decena, Local Economic and Business Development Officer Ms. Rizalyn D. Medrano, Barangay Captains, Barangay Kagawads, members of the Committee on Agriculture, and farmer leaders.

Afterward, the guests and participants used the facility for a stakeholder’s meeting, to which Dr. Alcedo discussed the first semester accomplishments of their office, as well as the programs and projects lined up for implementation this second semester.

Likewise, Dr. Decena and Engr. Emmanuel U. Salvador, Agricultural Engineer II, presented the programs and projects for the development of the livestock industry and the Farm-to-Market Road network plan, respectively. A forum followed thereafter to answer questions on programs and projects presented, including the issues and concerns that need to be addressed.

In addition, a workshop was also conducted among barangay officials, committee members, and farmer leaders to identify projects in their barangay that will further support and help our farmers.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dong delivered a message of continued support to the agriculture sector and shared how the new facility will benefit them.

This facility will be used to provide farmers and fisherfolk an avenue to enhance their knowledge and skills that are necessary in improving their farming practices, productivity, and their livelihoods.

Kakabsat, the City Government remains dedicated towards addressing the needs of our agri-fishery sector to have a sustainable livelihood here at the #PeoplesCity of #SanFernandoTayo.
